What is the Coordinated Response Team (CRT)?
The CRT is a multidisciplinary team at the Children's Legacy Center that provides trauma-informed support and services to youth who are vulnerable to or experiencing commercial sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, or labor trafficking. CRT brings together professionals from across systems to ensure a collaborative and comprehensive response.
Who can make a referral to CRT?
Referrals may be made by law enforcement, child welfare, probation, educators, medical or mental health providers, advocates, caregivers, or community members. Youth may also self-refer.
What happens after I submit a referral?
Referrals are reviewed within 24 business hours. A CRT coordinator will follow up to confirm details, assess urgency, and coordinate next steps, including scheduling assessments or crisis response if needed.
What services does CRT provide?
CRT services may include: - Comprehensive risk and needs assessments - Emergency placement coordination - Mental and behavioral health referrals - Forensic medical exams - Advocacy and case coordination - Safety planning and stabilization support
Is the referral confidential?
Yes. Information shared is kept confidential and used solely to coordinate appropriate services. Only individuals with legal authority may consent to services or information sharing on behalf of a youth. Our team will confirm this as part of the process.
Can I refer a youth even if I don’t have all their information?
Yes. You are encouraged to share what you know. CRT staffcan help gather additional information and determine appropriate next steps.
What if the youth is in immediate danger?
If this is an emergency, call 911. Mandated reporters are legally required tor eport suspected child abuse, including concerns related to commercial sexual exploitation or trafficking, to local law enforcement or your local child welfare office.
Making a referral to CRT does not replace the obligation to report to child protection or law enforcement authorities.

Does the youth need to know that I’m making this referral?
Not necessarily. However, please indicate on the referralform whether the youth is aware.
What areas does CRT serve?
CRT primarily serves Shasta County but also accepts referrals from neighboring Northern California counties.
